About

The naturally cloudy wines, of which only 350 bottles of the 2019 vintage exist, were bottled exclusively for Raaago. A real rarity and a special treasure of this autochthonous white wine variety, which today is also found almost only in this area in Austria.Ā Made by Heinrich Hartl, distributed by Raaago with love.Ā Ā

Character

Slightly cloudy and golden yellow in color. With a complex aroma, a mix of ripe yellow apples, freshly baked brioche, pear compote, followed by spicy notes of vanilla, white pepper and orange zest. Expressive palate with particular spice, apple chutney, elegant fresh acid structure. Again brioche notes, juicy puree of ripe yellow apples, reminiscent of candied oranges in panettone. In addition, slightly salty in the long finish.

Vinification

The grapes were harvested by hand from 35 year old vines. The grapes were racked and pressed – the mash was put into a vat and waited for the start of the spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts. After 4 days this started – after 14 days the fermented mash was pressed gently with a pneumatic press and the wine was filled into a used barrique barrel made of French Allier oak. The wine was stored there for 18 months – in the first 6 months the yeast was stirred every 3 weeks. The wine was not pumped – moved only by gravity – no treatment – no filtration – a small sulphur addition of 25 mg/L before bottling.
