Meeting on a trip to Austria, the idea quickly arose to establish a natural wine together with Heinrich Hartl and thus further merge the worlds of digital app and analog gastronomy. After half a year of rehearsals and development, the Heinrich Hartl x Raaago natural wine is finally available.
The natural wine, of which only 350 bottles of the 2019 vintage exist, were bottled exclusively for Raaago. A real rarity and a special treasure of this autochthonous white wine variety, which today is also found almost only in this area in Austria.
An exceptional natural wine. Slightly cloudy and golden yellow in color. With a complex aroma, a mix of ripe yellow apples, freshly baked brioche, pear compote, followed by spicy notes of vanilla, white pepper and orange zest. Expressive palate with particular spice, apple chutney, elegant fresh acid structure. Again brioche notes, juicy puree of ripe yellow apples, reminiscent of candied oranges in panettone. In addition, slightly salty in the long finish.

The Information
Information
Heinrich Hartl grew up on his parents‘ vineyard in the thermal region of Lower Austria. Five generations had already shaped the Hartl family winery before responsibility for the vineyards and cellar passed into the hands of Heinrich III, then only 20 years old, in 1999.
On 16 hectares not far from Lake Neusiedl, he has made it his mission to produce the best Pinot Noir in Austria and, above all, to bring the rare and indigenous varieties Rotgipfler and Zierfandler back into the spotlight. The soils of the winery consist of barren limestone gravel in the stone field in Oberwaltersdorf and Tattendorf, brown earth with shell limestone in Pfaffstätten and Gumpoldskirchen. Always connected with nature, he decided several years ago to convert and certify to organic viticulture.
Known for classical viticulture, but still with a very own and individual signature, he makes wines of surprising sophistication and strong expression. Having gone to school with neighboring winemaker Claus Preisinger, Heinrich Hartl presses his own version of natural wines, with dedication, the spontaneity of nature and the refined and sophisticated nose he is accustomed to through classical and multiple award-winning winemaking.
His natural wines show of the borderline between unpredictable experiments and controllable chance.
